How we Roll
What content do I need to prepare and provide to SoldCo?
Most of the websites we prepare for our clients are developed using a back-end database known as a Content Managment System. We utilize an open-source engine, and customize each project around any of your special requirents. We build the framework of your website (look and feel) - You, in turn, will log-in to your control panel to add the pages, images and content that make up your webiste. All of this is accomplished from an easy to use interface. ASP Content Management
What could my website look like?
There are 3 ways to go -- number (3) is self explanitory; below are two other ways you can go:
- A Custom Website
- A Template Driven Website
- Migrate your current website to a CMS
To Build a Custom website design: Basically, we'll need information in the following areas: design layout & general presentation, color scheme, images, words (content). These are the basic things that SoldCo will absolutely need to get started on your website design.
Generally, the best way to communicate your concept is to follow an organizational flow based on your navigation menu. EXAMPLE: Home, About Us, Products, Services, News & Contact. Each menu item represents a page on your website therefore each page will need text and pictures (provided by you). A good rule of thumb is about 250-500 words and 2-4 pictures per page.
To Build a website based on a template design: Find a template you like from one of the providers below (there are many more just search the web and you'll see) and send us the files. We'll take it from there and incorporate your logo...
Sources you can buy: http://www.templatesbox.com/ or http://www.templatemonster.com/ or visit an open source web design and choose a free layout released under the CC2 Creative Commons Attribution like the one here http://www.freecsstemplates.org/
What is the proper way to provide content for my website to SoldCo?
Providing proper content to SoldCo is very important for the development of your website design or project. It is critical that we have all of the content we need in order to start development and complete your website design or project on schedule. The ideal proper content for images is jpeg, psd, tiff, or eps format. The text copy (your "about us"or any other text information) in a text format using Notepad and not formatted in a word processor. Visit our terms & privacy page for more details on your content.
Will I be able to view the progress of my website?
Yes. Your website design will be available for you to view throughout the development stages. You will receive a "preview address" from us to monitor your website design as it evolves. This address will be accessible from your web browser and show you exactly how the site will be displayed to your customers and users on the internet.
As development is under way, you will periodically be contacted by your designer to go over the status of your website development. With this preview address for your website design, you will be able to view new changes as they are designed and uploaded. This way you will be able to make change requests and approvals during this process. In this manner you'll avoid showing it to the general public until your final approval.
Working under this preview system, changes can be made while your final website is progressing, saving you time without the problem of having to re-edit a finished design.
How long will it take for my website design to be finished?
A normal sized website with all the information adequately provided by you should be completed within one month from the start date. However, there are legitimate factors which may affect the time needed to fully complete your website design. This is why we will work with you in a pre-planning phase to insure that our agreed upon timeline for completion is easily met.
